Instructional Skills for Remote Delivery (ISRD) (ONLINE) August 14-25, 2023
This course is designated for those who anticipate that they will be teaching primarily online courses in the 2023-2024 academic year, or for those who for accessibility reasons are unable to attend an in-person Instructional Skills Workshop. If you are not sure if you should register for this course, please email teaching@yorku.ca
During this 2-week online course (approximately 15 hours), participants will work collaboratively in a small group setting (e.g. 1 Facilitator: 6 Participants) to further develop their teaching effectiveness in remote/online learning environments, as well as receiving feedback on teaching strategies and techniques.
During the first week of the course, participants will engage in daily synchronous sessions from 1:00-3:00 pm (ET) during which they will deliver a 15 minute lesson in real time, via Zoom. To gain additional experience and skill-building in remote/online delivery, the second week of the course requires participants to deliver a second 15 minute lesson, asynchronously. There are no scheduled synchronous sessions during the second week; rather all engagement will take place in the course eClass site.
Participants will receive reflective verbal, written, and video feedback from the other participants who have been learners in the lessons, and from course facilitators.
**Note: this is a 2-week course. Participants MUST attend all synchronous sessions taking place in week one.
Register here. Please note that registration for this offering closes on AugustĀ 9, 11:59 pm.
