Participatory Learning: How to Engage your Students (IN-PERSON) – Oct. 4
Are you ever faced with blank stares from your students or concerned that your students really aren’t getting what you are trying to teach them? Perhaps they are preoccupied with other things or are shy to participate for fear of sharing an “incorrect” answer. In this workshop, we will explore the factors that affect student engagement and participation. This will lead us to discover some simple techniques that you can use, as TAs, to help engage your students. We will apply these techniques in small groups where you will act as TA and student to workshop your ideas. By the end of this workshop, you will have some techniques to apply in your tutorial/studio/lab planning and facilitation.
