Teaching Assistant Course Orientation (TACO) – Fully Online Course – Jan. 16-23
Are you a tutorial leader or lab demonstrator looking for strategies to help you identify when learning happens in your classes? Join us for TACO (Teaching Assistant Course Orientation), a fully online course intended to serve as an orientation experience for graduate students and teaching assistants (TAs). The course consists of asynchronous learning opportunities where you choose what you want to learn about to prepare for teaching in a classroom or online setting. We offer guiding questions, checklists, and a template to assist you with lesson planning. You will be asked to create a lesson plan of your choice and bring this with you to a culminating synchronous session, where you will have the opportunity to discuss with a peer in a Zoom breakout room, and engage in a 1-hour Q&A session with experienced graduate student TAs.
