The BOLD Institute: Transitions
The BOLD Institute: New Beginnings is our full updated and improved instructional design and development program that is composed of five individual courses: BOLD Transitions, BOLD Foundations, BOLD eClass, BOLD Multimedia, and BOLD Assessment. BOLD Transitions and BOLD Foundations focus on helping faculty engage with and design online and blended courses, while BOLD eClass, BOLD Multimedia, and BOLD Assessment are centered on assisting with hands-on, practical development of participants' conceptual designs into concrete, fully functional learning experiences in a blended and online learning environment. Participants can take as many (or as few) of these five courses as their time and interests permit, in any order, or complete all five within a couple of years for a comprehensive recognition of their work. Each of the five courses blend both synchronous and asynchronous modes of delivery. They are actively facilitated by Teaching Commons instructors: participants can ask questions, have group discussions, receive feedback on their work, and access further support and resources via email, in online office hours, and through the course shell in eClass at any point.
BOLD Transitions
By the end of this course, participants will have:
-
- Identified the challenges and unique characteristics of instructional design in an eLearning/blended environment
-
- Analyzed an existing course from the perspective of converting it to an online/blended learning experience
-
- Designed specific solutions to the five major groups of challenges of online/blended learning
Time Commitment:
The course is 2 weeks long and requires approximately 6 to 10 hours of commitment in total to complete it (depending on each individual’s level of engagement and prior learning). It includes both synchronous (live Zoom) and asynchronous (online) activities, as well as optional (group or one-on-one) consulting opportunities.
Course Dates: November 21 to December 5
