Using Active Learning Strategies in your Teaching – Oct. 24
Creating an active learning environment means using appropriate strategies to engage students in critical thinking, creative production, and collaborative work. Active learning helps a student develop and apply their ideas, skills, and course concepts in their own ways that are meaningful to them. This workshop will examine active learning strategies that can be encouraged in small classrooms. We will apply these strategies in groups where you will participate as a TA and as a student amongst your teaching peers to help one another strengthen their teaching techniques. By the end of this workshop, you will have some strategies to apply in your tutorial/studio/lab planning and facilitation.
