Dear York Community,
Earlier today, the University experienced an outage with eClass, impacting both instructors and students. We are aware that navigating eClass has proven to be a challenge for some since fall classes began, however, the outage that began at 9:30 this morning resulted from an issue with the database source, and not eClass itself.
We know that many instructors quickly adapted their teaching to mitigate impacts on students’ learning, an important effort given the remote environment we are operating in. We appreciate the resourcefulness and determination of our entire community and wish to thank everyone for their efforts, understanding and patience.
The University Information Technology (UIT) team are working diligently to resolve the issue. UIT has also engaged external technology experts familiar with database source issues like the one which caused today’s outage, and together with UIT colleagues, they will work to restore eClass to full functionality as soon as possible.
Important information:
UIT is planning to take eClass offline effective today, Friday, September 11 at 8:00 p.m. with the goal of restoring functionality as soon as possible over the weekend.
We will share additional information and updates as they are available.
The University apologizes for the inconvenience this issue has caused and we thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Donald Ipperciel
Chief Information Officer
