Dear York Community,
University Information and Technology (UIT) staff and external experts have been working over the weekend to address performance and stability issues related to the database that supports our eClass platform. We know that eClass is an important tool for faculty and students and as we begin a new week, we want to ensure you are aware of the progress that has been made and work now underway.
We are pleased to share that eClass has been responding well to the database repairs that were made and has been operational since early Saturday morning. Additional work is ongoing to test the resiliency of the platform to ensure it can function optimally at a level beyond the needed capacity.
As of Monday morning, eClass will continue to be operational. To ensure eClass is running at optimal speeds, while we work to build additional capacity this week, we ask that all users avoid the peak hours of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10:30AM and 1:00PM for downloading videos or other large files (YouTube, Echo360 and other streaming video services can be freely used).
We appreciate your ongoing understanding and patience and will share updates on additional progress as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Donald Ipperciel, Chief Information Officer
York University
