As part of York University’s improvements to cybersecurity, the University has changed anti-virus solutions, and is no longer supporting Trend Micro anti-virus (AV) for personal use. Microsoft and Apple operating systems provide built-in anti-malware protection.

Trend Micro Removal Instructions for Windows>>
Confirm Windows Defender is enabled and running:
- Select “Start” menu
- Go to “Settings”
- Select “Update & Security” Windows Security
- Go to “Windows Security”
- Select “Virus & threat protection” – Virus & threat protection settings
- Click on “Managed Settings”
- Ensure the “Real-time protection” setting is On
