The Greening of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) has also been a long-standing priority for us. Several of the SDGs have placed prominence on the need to enhance the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). SDGs 4, 6, 8 and 13 include specific targets for TVET to strive to achieve. In particular, these SDGs call on the need for the greening of TVET institutions, to provide the skilled labour forces needed for countries to meet their national SDG commitments. There is hope that reorienting TVET to address sustainability will be a major means to assist small to medium sized enterprises (SME) to undertake both the greening of existing enterprise and the development of new SME to meet the emerging more sustainable economies.
What do we do?
We collaborate with UNESCO-UNEVOC in Bonn (Germany) to support their activities, especially using a whole-institution approach in reorienting current TVET schools and colleges. We contributed to preparing a practical guide for institutions to assist them in their greening process: Greening Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
In addition, to preparing the handbook, the Charles Hopkins assists at UNEVOC Headquarters and UNEVOC Centres in delivering their “UNEVOC TVET Leadership” program.
