Below are the Zoom Webinar settings to check before your event goes live. These settings will ensure that all necessary controls have been enabled and will help prevent any inappropriate disruptions from the audience.
To make sure that non-video participants are hidden during the webinar and to enable HD video:
- Click the ^ button next to the “Start Video” button
- Click – Video settings
- Make sure hide non-video participants is checked
- Click – Enable HD
To change the view of videos on screen:
- In the bottom tool bar, click “Participants”
- Click the three dots on the right corner
- Set to Gallery View
To make sure that the speaker’s video appears side by side during screen sharing mode and to enable panelists to share their screens:
- Click the “View Option” button located at the top right corner of your screen once screen sharing has started
- Click – Side-by-side Mode
- Click the ^ button next to the “Screen Sharing” button
- Click – Allow All Panelists to Share Screen
To enable anonymous questions during the Q&A portion of your event:
- Click the gear icon next to the “Q&A” button
- Click – Allow Anonymous Questions
To hide all unanswered questions in case of any inappropriate comments:
- Click the gear icon next to the “Q&A” button
- Click – Allow attendees to view answered questions only
To disable chat for all attendees to avoid any inappropriate comments or behaviour:
- Click the “Chat” button at the bottom of your screen
- Click – Attendees can chat with NO ONE
- Please note that panelists will still be able to use the chat functionality amongst panelists and will also be able to send chat messages to the rest of the audience
To give access to panelists to control their own camera:
- In the bottom toolbar, click “Participants”
- Click the three dots on the right corner
- Click – Allow Panelists to Start Video
To rename a panelist:
- Click on the three dots on the upper right corner of the panelist’s video frame
- Select – Rename
- Note that panelists can also change their display names by following the same steps
Please make sure these settings are also enabled:
- In the bottom toolbar, click “Participants”
- Click the three dots on the right corner
- Click – Allow Attendees to View Participant Count
- Click – Do Not Allow Raise Hand
- If you are using live auto-transcript, remember to enable it before the webinar goes live
