Protocol ensures that the University is consistently putting its best foot forward at events and when welcoming important guests to our campuses. It is a system of rules that outlines the proper conduct and procedures that are to be followed in formal occasions. Protocol includes etiquette, standards for titles, forms of address, seating, use of flags, gifts, etc. Below are some protocol resources for your reference.
If you plan to invite a guest to your event that is a public official, you are required to follow the university protocol that requires all university departments and units contact the Chief of Government and Community Relations & Protocol prior to initiating contact with these officials.
If you have any questions about protocol or whom to contact wrt inviting/welcoming a dignitary, please contact: yuevent@yorku.ca
