Academic Conduct Policy and Procedures

The new Academic Conduct Policy and Procedures is effective as of September 1, 2024.

The updated policy includes expanded definitions for clarity and consistency in its application, enhanced processes to improve efficiency, and guidelines on the use of AI tools. These changes aim to support a fair and transparent approach to academic integrity across the university.

October is Academic Integrity Month!

Calling all Students! Academic Integrity Month 2024 is taking place throughout October and features workshops and activities designed to enhance your understanding of academic integrity at York University.

This year’s theme, Upholding Integrity in a Dynamic Academic World, will guide you on how to maintain integrity as you navigate an evolving academic landscape.

IDOA International Day of Action for Academic Integrity hosted by the International Center for Academic Integrity: October 16, 2024

The theme this year focuses on academic integrity as the responsibility of everyone involved in education: faculty, staff and students. It involves promoting academic integrity as an important job and connects to continuing integrity beyond academia to professional ethics and lifelong learning following the ICAI fundamental values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage.

More information on webinars and activities can be found on the IDoA webpage including a full list of webinars focused on the topic of academic integrity that are all taking place on October 16 (times shown include EDT), along with webinar registration.

The webinars scheduled for this day will cover a range of topics, including using academic integrity instructional resources, navigating generative AI, the role of librarians, student perspectives, and more! These webinars are free and open to anyone with an interest in learning more about academic integrity!

Updated SPARK module

An updated version of York University Libraries’ SPARK Module on Academic Integrity and the associated quiz are now available.

This module supports students in gaining the skills and the confidence they need to complete their work with integrity. It outlines expectations for maintaining academic integrity and provides practical strategies to help students uphold these standards throughout their studies.

The latest updates include guidance on incorporating AI-based tools into academic work in ways that enhance learning and align with academic integrity standards, expanded connections to help and learning resources, and alignment with the new Academic Conduct Policy and Procedures to ensure students are well-equipped to navigate the evolving academic landscape.
