The SDGs-in-the-Classroom Toolkit it a 2024 International Green Gown Awards International Finalist!

The International Green Gown Awards, in association with Allianz Global Investors, announced their 2024 finalists and we are in the Next Generation Learning and Skills category.

Integrating Sustainable Development Goals into Nursing Education: Empowering Nurses as Catalysts for Change by Sandra Peniston.

Sandra is an Assistant Professor of Global Health and Primary Health Care in the York University School of Nursing and a PhD student in Nursing Studies at the University of Edinburgh. A strong proponent of universities’ roles in advancing the SDGs, Sandra emphasizes raising students' awareness of the goals across disciplines, helping them understand their relevance. She has volunteered and conducted research in Northern Ghana, highlighting the importance of achieving the UN SDGs in resource-constrained countries.

Embedding Equity, Diversity and Social Justice into the Curriculum of a Digital Humanities Class by Carolyn Steele.

Carolyn is an Assistant Professor in Humanities at York University and will share insights from her impactful work in digital humanities, immersive art, and experiential education. Her courses and projects, developed in collaboration with York’s Media Creation Lab, are shaping the future of interactive learning.

José Etcheverry will be moderating this session. Dr. Etcheverry is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University.

Event Explores How SDG Localization Can Get 2030 Agenda Back on Track

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) convened a panel discussion on the role of local SDG action in getting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development back on track. The event, held on the margins of the 2023 session of the UN Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), emphasized the importance of local governments as critical agents of change. The discussion also highlighted the potential of Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs) in tracking progress at the community level.

Summit Explores AI’s Potential to Advance SDGs

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and partners held a summit to discuss the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing global development priorities such as health, climate, gender, inclusive prosperity, and sustainable infrastructure. The AI for Good Global Summit aimed to identify practical AI applications that can support the SDGs and scale those solutions for global impact. The event highlighted both the transformative potential of AI and the need for safeguards to prevent misuse. The summit also featured a 'Robotics for Good' exhibition showcasing over 50 robots designed to support various aspects of human life and contribute to the SDGs.
