Swan’s no sleeper!

Novelist and York professor of humanities Susan Swan’s short story “Sleeper” is running in The Globe and Mail today, on the 9/11 anniversary. The timing of the publication is no accident…. The story is about a Canadian woman who meets a possible terrorist on the train. The appearance of “Sleeper” in the newspaper also coincides with the launch of Swan’s website, a site that gives readers a chance to find out more about this award-winning writer.

Swan is the noted author of such novels as The Wives of Bath (basis for film, Lost and Delirious), The Biggest Modern Woman of the World and Stupid Boys are Good to Relax With. She has been given numerous awards including the Robarts Millennial Scholar, York University, 1999-2001; Canada Council Award for Fiction, l998; Toronto Arts Council Award for Fiction, 1996; Ontario Arts Council Award for Works-in-Progress, 1995; and Guardian Fiction Prize Finalist, UK (International Award), 1993.
