Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, 9-11am, 320 Bethune College (Bethune Art Gallery)….
Representatives from NSERC will be visiting York University on Monday, Sept. 23, as part of the site visit for the Grant Selection Committees related to both the life sciences (GSCs 18, 23, and 12) and engineering disciplines (GSCs 06, 20, and 334).
As part of this visit, NSERC has asked the Office of Research Administration (ORA) to arrange a general session for faculty members from all disciplines to discuss NSERC granting programs.
The session will begin with a presentation on recent news at NSERC. This will be followed by a presenttion on strategies for preparing an NSERC application. It will be of particular value to those who are interested in finding out how to improve proposals, how decisions are made by panels, the relationship between assessors’ comments and the final decision, and what makes for a good proposal (i.e., strengths and weaknesses). The NSERC representatives will also discuss the peer-review process, functioning of GSCS, as well as important issues at NSERC.
The session will be followed by a question period.
To assist in planning this session, please confirm your attendance by contacting ORA at ext. 55055 or
