Distinguished Research Professor Leo V. Panitch, Canada Research Chair in Comparative Political Economy, is the recipient of a framed letter of congratulations, signed by Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. VP Research & Innovation Stan Shapson recently to present him with the letter.
Panitch’s current work involves theoretical research to examine the role that the American state and corporations have played and are playing in global capitalism. He hopes his findings will lead to increased understanding of the evolving relationship between finance, production and government in the making of global capitalism. He plans to publish his results in a series of books, scholarly articles and edited volumes devoted to this issue.
Panitch is an author/co-author of widely-cited publications related to comparative political economy, socialism, political parties and comparative labour studies. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Fullbright Fellowship, Distinguished Visiting Professorship at the Graduate Center in the City University of New York, and editor of The Socialist Register.
