York Professor Thomas W. Gallant has a vision for a premier program in modern Greek history at York.
A member of the Department of History and the holder of the York Hellenic Heritage Foundation Chair in Hellenic Studies for 2002-2003, he spoke recently of the current and planned initiatives for the program when he addressed the annual meeting of the Hellenic Canadian Congress in Montreal.
In his speech entitled “Writing Greek History in the 21st Century”, which was one of the keynote addresses at the meeting, Gallant traced the development of the field of modern Greek history over the last 30 years. In addition, he assessed the state of the field today, and charted a map for it the future.
