Some York senior administrators had a flippin’ good time on Tuesday – all in a good cause. They kicked off the York 2002 United Way Campaign by flipping pancakes for the annual Pancake Breakfast, where it was “service with a smile”.
For only $2 in the Glendon cafeteria and in the Central Square cafeteria at the Keele campus members of the York community dug in and ate their hearts out, all in the interests of charity (and great taste!).
This year York University issued a Pancake Breakfast challenge to Seneca College and they accepted. There was an exchange of administrators and students for pancake serving between the Keele Campus and Seneca @ York, which added warmth and personal interest to that campaign challenge. While the Seneca totals from their four campuses are not yet in at presstime, the York donations from Glendon and Keele totalled $817. Thanks to all those participating.
In mid-October the advance guard of this year”s York University United Way Campaign donned red and headed off on the ‘Can”t you see it”s green?’ bus. The group of staff and students went to a CFTO Salute to United Way taping at the downtown headquarters to promote York and the 2002 United Way Campaign. Stay tuned for the York United Way Salute, which will be aired on the 6 o”clock news Nov. 20.
The 2002 United Way Campaign, which began yesterday, ends on Nov. 27. Starting next week, you can check the virtual banner (look for the link on York”s home page) to see how well York is doing in our contributions: Fill the Y with red!
