The Glendon Gallery presents “Regards (Viewpoints)” Nov. 14-Dec.14, an exhibition curated by Annie Molin Vasseur.
Five Franco-Ontarian women – artists Jocelyne Belcourt Salem, Céline Blais Maltais, Colette Jacques, Colette Laliberté and La Gaan – express their vision of contemporary society through the media of paint, sculpture and installations. They call our attention to the mulitiplicity and complexity of our changing world. At times questioning, critical, nostalgic or archetypal, these artists present a singular perspective on subjects crucial to post-modernity.
The title of the exhibition refer both to the artists’ view of the world and to our own, as observers of their work. It denotes than any view raises questions about the world and about art. Each artistic approach represents reality, yet raises issues about memory, both individual and collective.
The exhibition opens with an artists’ talk Nov. 14,12-1pm. There will be an opening reception the same day, 6-8pm.
