Celebrate Anatol Schlosser’s life at special evening event

York’s Department of Theatre, in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Arts, is holding a celebratory evening of theatre and music to honour the life and work of late colleague, Prof. Anatol Schlosser, who passed away on Sept. 11. Schlosser was a charter member of the Department of Theatre, Faculty of Fine Arts.

The special evening will be held Monday, Nov. 25 beginning at 7:30pm in York’s Burton Auditorium. Admission is free. All welcome.

The evening will be emceed by television producer and York theatre alumna Jeanne Beker, a former student of Schlosser''s, and will feature performances and presentations by past and present students, faculty and friends. It will highlight his interests in the theatre of protest, puppetry, non-European theatre, theatre history and Paul Robeson.

A student award is being established to honour Schlosser''s memory and his deep commitment to his students. The Anatol Schlosser Prize will be given annually to a third-year theatre student who is enrolled in the Concurrent Education Program at York University, and who demonstrates academic excellence as well as lively involvement in the life of the community.
