Curtis Lecture Halls A to G have a fresh new look for a brand new year. The changes were made as part of York”s ongoing quest to enhance the student and teaching experience at the University.
The heavily-used halls were partly upgraded after the summer exams ended, and further upgrades were carried out after the fall exams were over. The changes were made without causing the rooms to be out of service. The large halls, I and L, will be upgraded this August.
John Briggs, manager, Instructional Technology Centre, says the refurbishments include new desks and chairs, carpet on the stage, acoustic treatment, and improvements to the lighting control. There were also such technical improvements as a new sound system, LCD projector, a new podium with a built-in network PC, a VHS, a DVD and a Document Camera, all controlled with a small Touch Screen. With the Touch Screen password, instructors can operate the system without ordering ahead of time.
