“You are wrong in treating Daniel Pipes’ views as legitimate ‘free speech’,” writes Nuri Jazairi, economics professor in York’s Faculty of Arts, in a letter to The Globe and Mail Jan. 31. “The Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees freedom of expression subject to ‘reasonable limits’.… A restriction on his right to free speech would have been justified to protect the fundamental rights and reputations of others.”
