York probes heart health

During Heart and Stroke Month, York is going to host a first-time event entitled, “Behaviour, Lifestyle and Social Determinants of Heart Health: From Research to Policy, Planning, Programs and Services”, on Feb. 20 at Founder’s College, Room 152. Representatives from the health care and human service sectors plan to attend the forum that sets out to explore critical challenges relating to heart health.

Dr. Lawrence W. Green (below, right), international researcher and author of the “Precede-Proceed” health promotion planning framework, will give the keynote address.

“Led by Dr. Green’s keynote address and assisted by facilitators, this day will be an interactive case study process resulting in a position statement on issues affecting heart health and the future of Canadian quality of life,” says Dr. Joseph Levy, a professor in York’s Atkinson School of Health Policy and Management and one of the forum organizers.
