York’s Postal Services Department has declared the official opening of hunting season. They are hunting big game – you. Or, to be more specific, your address. So many departments are on the move due to space available in new buildings that some people’s whereabouts are a mystery on the Keele campus.
Many departments have started to occupy the new Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Bulding and soon groups will be moving into the Seymour Schulich Building (SSB). Once these moves are complete, the ripple effect will begin as other departments take up the vacated premises.
With the hundreds of people these moves involve it is putting a tremendous strain on communications and in particular the successful delivery of mail.
To ensure efficient and accurate mail delivery York’s Postal Services Department needs everyone to update address lists and to use this information in the correct format when sending mail.
How you can help
- Make sure your address has been revised and is accessible:
- on the York Atlas;
- on the database in Human Resources PeopleSoft system.
- on the York Atlas;
- Find the representative in your department who is responsible for updating these systems and confirm that your address has been or will be changed.
- Make sure your outgoing mail has the right address. Use the York Atlas (from the home page of the York Web site click on “Faculty and Staff” then on “E-mail & Phone Directory”) to find the most current addresses.
- Inform all your friends, business associates and university colleagues of your new campus address and the date of your move by:
- mailing out change of address cards, which are available in Postal Service, or at any Canada Post outlet;
- adding a salutation to your e-mail messages and conventional mail to remind people of your move, and your new address.
