Do you want to ask what Toronto mayoral candidates will do for York? You’ll have your chance, right on the Keele campus.
Barbara Hall, Tom Jakobek, David Miller, John Nunziata and John Tory will be in the hot seat Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 12:40 to 2:15pm in the Moot Court, Room 101 Osgoode Hall Law School. Three of the speakers are Osgoode alumni: Hall and Tory graduated in 1978 and Nunziata in 1980.

Patrick Monahan (right), dean of Osgoode Hall Law School, will moderate this event, in which the contenders will outline their policies and priorities for the City of Toronto. The candidates will debate the issues before students and faculty in an event organized by the law school with the assistance of the Osgoode Student Caucus.

In addition to issues affecting the city as a whole, students are expected to grill the candidates on matters of particular concern to the University community, such as the call for an extension of the Yonge-Spadina subway line to the Keele Street campus to reduce gridlock and exhaust emissions. York University is one of the most significant traffic generators in the Greater Toronto Area, parking more than 34,000 cars on peak days.
Candidates will be given an opportunity to outline their platforms before responding to questions from the audience. The meeting will conclude with a summation by each candidate.
