Come and meet faculty and students at the next monthly Graduate Open House Dec. 17, hosted by York’s Faculty of Environmental Studies in room 354 Lumbers Building from 12:30-2:30pm.
You will get an idea of the kinds of individualized and interdisciplinary programs other master’s and doctoral-level environmental studies students have tailored for themselves. And you will have a chance to discuss program options and admission requirements with program coordinators, faculty members, students and staff.
Jeff Short, a current first-year MES student, attended an open house last year. It gave him “a better appreciation for the multidisciplinary character of the program, and I had the chance to learn more about the research interests of some of the professors,” he said. Such meetings can help clarify the wide range of possibilities, especially since environmental studies is often confused with environmental science, ecology and biology.
While you’re here, take a tour of the Wild Garden Media Centre, the FES Works! Career Centre, the Student Resource Centre and the Counter Culture Café. Or put on your toque for a walking tour that highlights ecologically sustainable features of York’s Keele campus.
