Those members of the York community who need access to buildings on the University campuses for events during the upcoming holiday closure should ensure that their buildings will be opened. Send e-mail requests abut this to Security Control Officer Malcom MacNeil, mmacneil@yorku.ca and copy scc@yorku.ca.
Those with specific security needs for a facility or department should contact Richard Pilkington, rpilking@yorku.ca, ext. 55360.
York’s Security Services will have a limited number of building entrance keys for sign-out purposes. These keys will be available on a first come first served basis. All persons signing out keys will require their office/lab key & valid identification.
Community members who have faculty, staff or students who may need to use these keys over the holidays should forward a list of names via e-mail to Malcom MacNeil to ensure sign-out privileges. Those whose names appear on the prepared list may sign out keys at any time during the holiday period from the Security Control Centre located at the north-east corner of the William Small Centre(opposite the Petrie Science & Engineering Building).
Entrance keys will be available for the following buildings:
- Atkinson Building
- Bethune College
- Chemistry Building
- Curtis Lecture Hall (for the Ross complex)
- Founders College
- McLaughlin College
- Health Nursing & Environmental Studies building
- Stong College
- Vanier College
- Winters College
- East Office Building
- West Office Building
- York Lanes
- Joan and Martin Goldfarb Centre for Fine Arts
The Ross Complex (Ross Building, Vari Hall, Curtis Lecture Halls and Central Square) will be open throughout the break from 7am to 8pm, with the exception of Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan. 1.
Those persons who are planning to be on campus during the holidays, programs such as “Why Work Alone?” and the Student Escort Service will be available.

A final word before you leave for the holiday
Remember, on your last day of work before the holiday, turn off the office coffee pot, water the plants, take home valuable personal belongings, shut down your computer after safeguarding with password protection, and ensure your office door is locked.
York security staff will be conducting pro-active patrolling 24/7 throughout the holidays.
