Two of North America’s foremost constitutional law experts – one an American, the other a Canadian – will discuss recent developments pertaining to the legality of same-sex marriage in Canada and the United States. Their discussion titled "Same-Sex Marriage: Cross-Border Perspectives" will take place this evening at The University Club in Toronto.
Peter W. Hogg, former dean of York’s Osgoode Hall Law School and lead counsel for the government of Canada in the Supreme Court reference on same-sex marriage, and Richard D. Parker, the Paul W. Williams Professor of Criminal Justice at Harvard Law School and author of Here, the People Rule: A Constitutional Populist Manifesto, are the keynote speakers.
The event, presented by the Osgoode Hall Law School Alumni Association and the Harvard Law School Association of Toronto, begins at 5:30pm with a cocktail reception followed by the panel discussion from 6:30 to 7:45pm. The University Club is located at 380 University Ave. in Toronto.
