After leaving their offices for the day, a number of Toronto professionals take on a different role, revealing another side of themselves as emerging artists. Tomorrow, some of their artwork will be available for purchase through a unique fundraising event. York’s Osgoode Hall Law School will present Vernissage – an evening of art and music with budding artists who, by day, are professionals – May 18 from 7pm to 11pm, at The Boiler House in Toronto’s Distillery District.
Proceeds from the event will be used to fund Osgoode’s first youth program, called World View Conference: Youth Exploring Global Issues and the Law. The conference, which will take place from June 22 to 27 at Osgoode’s Professional Development Centre in downtown Toronto, will give Grade 9 to 12 students a chance to learn from the brightest legal minds about some of the pressing challenges facing the world and how Toronto youth can make a difference. For more on the World View Conference, please click here.
Vernissage will feature the best of what Toronto has to offer: original artwork, live music from a Latin-Brazilian quartet, sumptuous food and drinks, and exciting prizes. Artwork from 50 professionals in the city will be displayed at the beautiful and historic 2-storey premises of the Boiler House. Lawyers, bankers, TV personalities, graphic designers, engineers, analysts and entrepreneurs have signed on to display another side of themselves – their passion through art.
The Boiler House in Toronto’s Distillery District is located at 55 Mill Street (one block south of Front Street, east off Parliament Street). Tickets are $25 per person and are available by contacting Barbara Tong at btong@osgoode.yorku.ca.
