Need support to develop your business further?

The Retirement Planning Centre has started a breakfast meeting series – by popular request – to provide those starting small businesses a chance to network and develop their business further. The first meeting will be held Thursday, June 24 from 7:30 to 9am. The meeting will be facilitated by Canadian author and self-employment expert Susan Sommers.

Sommers is an award-winning journalist, speaker and consultant with more than 25 years of experience in business communications. One of Canada’s leading experts in marketing and media relations consulting and training, she is the author of two new books on Canadian media, Building Media Relationships and Media-Wise, and a monthly columnist for PR Canada’s Internet newsletter. Sommers is also a specialist in self-employment for the YMCA Business Centre.

Subsequent meetings are tentatively scheduled for July 8, July 22, Aug. 5 and Aug.19.

The cost is $5 for a continental breakfast in the Chancellor’s Room at the Underground Restaurant located in the Student Centre on the Keele campus. If you are interested in participating in the breakfast meetings, please confirm your attendance to the first meeting by June 16. You can do so by sending an e-mail to retire@yorku.ca, by calling ext. 66228 or by visiting The Retirement Planning Centre Web site and filling out the online enrolment form.

The Retirement Planning Centre needs a minimum of 10 people to make this a rich learning experience, says coordinator Karen Gray. Spouses and business partners are welcome to attend the breakfast.
