The York Lions women’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four games with a scoreless draw against the Guelph Gryphons Sunday afternoon at York Stadium. Goalkeepers of both teams were solid: Aurelea Gumiela of York and Katie Stross of Guelph each earned the shutout.

Roy Bihi-Zenou’s first goal of the season was the game winner as the York Lions men’s soccer team shut out the Guelph Gryphons 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at York Stadium. Bihi-Zenou netted the game winner in the 67th minute following a scramble in front of the Gryphons goalkeeper. Francesco Malfitano scored the other Lions’ goal.
A field goal on the last play of the game gave the visiting Queen’s Golden Gaels a 17-16 victory over the York Lions in Ontario University Athletics football action on Saturday. York running back Andre Durie, with his third consecutive 200-plus yard rushing game, finished the day with 217 yards on 21 carries. The Lions will host the McMaster University Marauders this weekend in a battle of the top two running backs in Canada, Durie and McMaster’s Jesse Lumsden.
The Lions field hockey team split a pair of weekend games and have climbed into fifth spot in the OUA after starting the year 0-3.
The York badminton team opened its season with a convincing 11-2 victory over the University of Toronto.
