The fun and games are over for York University’s United Way Campaign. The final push has begun to reach the campaign’s goal of $185,000. To date, the campaign has met 90 per cent of its target, thanks to 356 donations from faculty and staff of the University and the York University Foundation.
York’s campaign team is launching a final appeal to the community to get their pledge cards completed and into the office. With just $20,000 left, the team is hoping those final pledge cards will be forwarded by to the campaign office by mid January.
Throughout the month of November, York University’s faculty, staff and students participated in various special events to help raise awareness and funds for this year’s United Way Campaign.
“A special thank-you goes to all staff from various faculties and departments who volunteered their time to organize such fabulous events in support of the campaign,” said Danielle Chateau, community relations officer and Chair for this year’s campaign.
Chateau said that over $9,000 was raised by the York community through Numerous events including bake sales, the President’s Pancake Breakfast, car wash, bazaars, pot-luck lunches, book sales, raffles and a garage sale. With the goal in sight, she is hopeful the community will rally and help push the campaign to its goal.
“If you haven’t yet made your donation and wish to help lift our total over the top, it’s not too late to have your contribution count,” said Chateau. “Help fill the ‘Y’ with red!”
