A public consultation on alternative routes for the extension of the Spadina subway to north of Steeles Avenue via York University will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10 at the Keele campus.
The first of two public consultation events at York in the first phase of the Individual Environmental Assessment (EA) Study will be a public open house from 11am to 3pm in the East Bear Pit, Central Square. All members of the York community are welcome to drop in to view information and ask questions. Those interested may also attend a presentation and workshop in Founders Assembly Hall being held from 4:30 to 7pm. (Pre-registration is required by Feb. 8.)
The public open house and workshop will give interested members of the community a chance to familiarize themselves with changes to a previous assessment approved in 1994 as well as learn more about land use, transportation and environmental features of the proposed line and the proposed alternative routes. Visitors will also be able to review the criteria used to evaluate the different route proposals.
All members of the York community are encouraged to share their thoughts on the different route proposals with the study team, which includes representatives from the Toronto Transit Commission and the City of Toronto. Those wishing to participate in the workshop should register by contacting the study project team by e-mail or by phone at 416-338-3333 (24-hour comment line). Information on this and previous studies as well as the Spadina Subway Extension project is available on their Web site.
