Colleagues and friends were saddened to learn of the passing of staff member Jeanette Foster, who had been involved with York for 10 years. She had been administrative secretary to the Chair of the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, since February 1998. Previously she had worked on various temporary assignments with the colleges, including Vanier, Stong, Winters, Founders, and elsewhere in the Faculty of Arts (Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Department of Philosophy, Office of the Dean) from October 1995.
Mrs. Foster had been fighting a battle with cancer for the past several years and passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 15. She is survived by her daughter, her son and daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and five siblings. She was a woman of strong faith who was active in her church and gave generously of her time to helping the homeless.
Visitiation will be held from 7 to 9 pm today at Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home, 467 Sherbourne Street (south of Wellesley Street East), Toronto, 416-924-1408. The funeral will be held at 10:30am tomorrow (Sept. 21) at St. Basil’s Church, 50 St. Joseph Street (at Bay, south of Bloor Street West), 416-926-7110.
Mrs. Foster wished that any donations in her memory be directed to a charity that benefits children in need.
