Oral poet and playwright Marc LeMyre is mounting an evening of “electric poetry” at Theatre Glendon on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 8pm. This is one of a series of special cultural events complementing the Third International Colloquium on ICT-Enhanced French Studies, taking place in Toronto, Oct. 27-29.

LeMyre, who has a BA in communications from the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM), works in a number of different fields, notably as poet, photographer, performance director and freelance producer for CBC Radio-Canada. He has garnered several prizes for his “electric poetry”. His poetry collection, Zones de dos de baleine (Whaleback Zones), published in 2001, received wide acclaim and his poetry CD-ROM – gaga pour ton zoom (Crazy for your Zoom) – received the ‘Trille d’or’ award for the best poetry album (French-language Category) in 2005.
At various times labelled provoking, insolent, plugged-in, amusing, passionate, or disturbing, LeMyre is difficult to categorize – but always a real performer and a unique phenomenon.
In his Oct. 29 performance at Theatre Glendon, located on the Glendon campus, LeMyre will present an evening of sound, image and music. Poésie électrique offers a rare chance to discover a new facet of poetry.
