York is U Green Team presents Environmental Awareness Week

York is U environment weekCanadian weather varies drastically, especially in winter. But, this year, the coldest season took many unexpected turns:from rainy sunshine to full blown snowstorms, this winter has seen it all, much of it due to environmental change. To learn more about what’s up with the weather, check out Environmental Awareness Week, hosted by the York is U Green Team, which takes place Feb. 20 to 22.

Created to promote much needed environmental awareness among York University students, this event provides activities and informative visuals and, hopefully, will spark interest among students for environmental conservation.

"We will be uniting with environmental groups on and off campus for this special event," said Adeyinka Daramola, a fourth-year anthropology major and York is U’s campus life director.


Some of the organizations expected to take part this year are Counter Culture, Environment Canada, Greenpeace and many more, all with interactive learning opportunities.


Sustainable Campus Coalition @ York and The Environmental Outreach Team will be hosting an interactive tour around Keele campus where students can learn about composting, green buildings and other programs at York.


The three-day event will be held in York Lanes, 10am-3pm, and features interactive displays, free games, giveaways and prizes.
