How do bees house-hunt together? How do underwater plants use smell and birds use colour to send a message? These are among the research topics biologists will discuss March 11 at a symposium on the Ecology and Evolution of Communication Systems. Organized by the Association of Graduate Students in Biological Sciences, this 33rd annual symposium is focusing on the evolutionary 
and ecological consequences of both intra- and inter-species communication and interaction.
Talks will explore topics such as
- communication between ground squirrels and rattlesnakes
- the wet world of smell in freshwater communities
- rainbow trout bullies in the fish tank
- house-hunting and group decisions by honey bees.
