A new champion will be crowned in Ontario University Athletics men's basketball after the visiting York Lions upset the top-ranked – and three-time defending national champion – Carleton Ravens, 82-74, in the OUA East Final March 4.
With the victory, the Lions snapped a 10-game losing streak versus the Ravens that dates back to Nov. 22, 2002. York's last victory over Carleton was a 77-75 win in the OUA East Final on March 3, 2002. The Lions, who have won 11 of their last 12 games, advance to the OUA Wilson Cup Championship March 11, where they will host the winner of the OUA West Final between McMaster and Laurier.
The Lions had already earned a berth in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport "Final 10" national championship in Halifax, March 16-19.
