Visual arts student Lise Beaudry has made the tiny, perfect Boler camping trailer the subject of her master’s thesis exhibition, Bolerama, at the Glendon Gallery from March 20 to April 8.

The photographer and award-winning videographer grew up in Earlton, a rural farming community in eastern Ontario where Boler trailers were manufactured until the late 1970s. On display will be large colour photographs of Boler interiors and exteriors as well as a real Boler trailer visitors can enter to hear interviews Beaudry recorded with people who own and who built the trailers.
Her exhibit takes its name from the annual weekend convention in July of owners of Bolers and similar moulded fiberglass camping trailers in small rural towns across Canada.
Beaudry resides in Toronto, where she co-founded AlleyJaunt, in which artists take their art into back alleys and garages around Trinity Bellwoods Park. In 2002, she produced Le Tourbillon, an award-winning short video about the artist’s obsession with French actress Jeanne Moreau, that has toured to over 25 festivals in Canada, US and Europe. Her photographic work has been exhibited in several Canadian cities, the US, Romania and France.
Bolerama opens on March 20, La Journée de la Francophonie à Toronto. The artist will give talks March 20 and 21 at 5pm. The opening reception takes place March 25, 2-5pm.
