The Faculty of Environmental Studies will hold its annual Las Nubes holiday coffee sale Dec. 11-13, 10am-4pm, in the west lobby of the HNES Building. On sale are ground coffee, whole bean coffee, gift packages and stocking stuffers.
Las Nubes Coffee is grown near York’s rainforest reserve in southern Costa Rica by a farmers’ cooperative, CoopeAgri, an organization that supports FES student research in the Las Nubes area. The coffee is certified “sustainable” on the basis of ecological, economic and social criteria, and is also certified Fair Trade Coffee by Transfair Canada. It is marketed as a specialty coffee throughout Canada by Timothy’s World Coffee, which makes a contribution to York for each pound sold.
All proceeds go to support the programs and activities of the Fisher Fund for Neotropical Conservation, a fund established to honour the benefactor of Las Nubes to York University, Dr. M.M. (Woody) Fisher.
