YorkU magazine and Ylife win international silver at CASE

York’s Publications unit has won two silver medals from the Washington-based Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in its Circle of Excellence Awards.

Universities and colleges throughout the United States and Canada compete for these CASE awards every year.

For the second year in a row, YorkU magazine has won silver in the Print Internal Audience Magazines category, for issues circulating on York’s campuses. Meanwhile, Ylife, York’s online newsletter for students, has won silver in the Web-based or Electronic HTML Internal Audience Periodicals category. The eligibility period was the first full year of publishing for Ylife, which began in August, 2005.

"Coming on the heels of a passel of awards from CASE District II, this is yet another affirmation of the strength of our staff," said Berton Woodward, publications director in York’s Marketing & Communications Division. "Everyone in our group contributed to one or both of these publications, and all deserve congratulations."

Earlier this year, the Publications unit won two golds, one for YFile and one for Ylife, and honourable mention for YorkU magazine, at the 2007 CASE District II Accolades Awards presentation in New York. They were among eight awards won by York’s Marketing & Communications and York’s Alumni Office at the regional conference (see YFile April 19).
