As another academic year came to a close, Dezsö J. Horváth, dean of York’s Schulich School of Business, highlighted "exciting" accolades for faculty in his end-of-year message.
The following faculty members have received honours and awards:
- Ellen Auster (right), strategic management professor, shares the 2007 Distinguished Educator Award presented by the Academy of Management. One of the highest honours bestowed by the American academy upon its members, the award recognizes excellence and
innovation in teaching. Auster will accept the award at the Academy of Management’s annual meeting Aug. 3-8 in Philadelphia.
- Christine Oliver (middle right), the Henry J. Knowles Chair in Organizational Strategy and co-director of Schulich’s PhD program, was one of four researchers recently recognized by the Academy of Management Review. Their articles, published between 1985 and 1995, were singled out for "innovative, frame-breaking qualities." Oliver’s 1991 article, "Strategic responses to institutional responses", was hailed as one of the most influential of the decade.
- Jean Adams (below, right), organizational behaviour &
industrial relations and policy professor, received an HP Technology for Teaching grant for her proposal to promote collaborative learning in the Management 1000 undergraduate course. The course incorporates the NewMindsets material developed by Schulich Distinguished Research Professor Gareth Morgan (see the May 6, 2003 issue of YFile), who will be working on this project with Adams and Ron McClean, Schulich professsor of operations management & information systems.
