Tennis Canada has announced that eight of the top 10 players on the official players entry list, for the 2007 Rogers Cup presented by American Express, have confirmed their attendance at this year's tournament. The event, scheduled from Aug. 11 to 19 at the Rexall Centre at York University, will feature players from the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. Confirming their attendance are: current French Open champion and world No. 1 Justine Henin; six-time Grand Slam and 2007 Wimbledon winner Venus Williams; as well as defending Rogers Cup champion and French Open finalist Ana Ivanovic.
"I’m thrilled to have such an exceptional player field in Toronto for my first Rogers Cup," said tournament director Karl Hale.
Canadian and visiting international tennis fans will witness exciting enhancements to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour including on-court coaching and an improvement to doubles tennis with the addition of Doubles Domain with modified scoring. Returning to the game this year is the popular instant replay technology and player challenge protocol. Toronto will also be the site for Sony Ericsson WTA Tour proceedings that include coaching conferences and player representative meetings.

The theme for the Rogers Cup presented by American Express is Victorious & Vogue: where fierce competition meets fierce style. Opening Night will be a trip down memory lane with the Rogers Cup Tennis Legends presented by Acura on Aug. 13. Tennis greats John McEnroe and Jim Courier hit the court in a competitive singles match, followed by an interactive mixed doubles event starring the same two men, and women’s tennis icons Anna Kournikova and Carling Bassett-Seguso. Victorious & Vogue Fashion Shows are scheduled from Aug. 13 to 15. Three chic daily fashion shows will feature the history of tennis fashion and some of today’s hottest trends.
