National U-22 women’s team will play exhibition hockey series at York

The Canadian national under-22 women’s hockey team will hit the ice at York for six exhibition games from Aug. 13 to 18.

As part of the team’s selection camp, there will be two intrasquad games and four games against a CIS all-star team at Canlan Ice Sports on York’s Keele campus. The Aug. 13 - 17 games begin at 8pm, while the puck drops at 4:30pm on Aug. 18. A $2 donation is required for entry, with part of the proceeds going to the York University women’s hockey program.

York Lions Head Coach Dan Church is also the head coach for the under-22 team, which will trim its 38-player roster to 22 at the end of camp. The national team will travel to Lake Placid, NY, for a three-game exhibition series against the United States Aug. 23-26 before competing in the Air Canada Cup in January 2008 in Germany.

Sixteen Ontario-born players are included on the selection-camp roster, while the CIS all-star team features eight players from Ontario universities.

  • Monday, Aug. 13 – Canada Red vs. CIS All-Stars, 8pm
  • Tuesday, Aug. 14 – Canada White vs. CIS All-Stars, 8pm
  • Wednesday, Aug. 15 – Canada Red vs. Canada White, 8pm
  • Thursday, Aug. 16 – Canada Red vs. CIS All-Stars, 8pm
  • Friday, Aug. 17 – Canada White vs. CIS All-Stars, 8pm
  • Saturday, Aug. 18 – Canada White vs. Canada Red, 4:30pm
