October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and 99.9 Mix FM officially kicked off the month with its popular “Shave to Save” contest in support of Breast Cancer Awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

workers to watch as he buzzed off his thick mane on Oct. 23. Mix FM radio hosts Mad Dog and Billie were there, along with haircutting professional Fiorio, to capture the moment for the radio and Web.

Supporting the cause was a natural decision for Morris, who has witnessed friends and acquaintances battle the disease and win. He wanted to give others the opportunity to be survivors as well. “The first thing people that I haven’t seen in a while ask when they see me now is ‘Why did you do that?’ which is exactly the response I’m looking for,” said Morris.

Money raised through the Shave to Save program is used to fund initiatives that help researchers learn more about breast cancer, enable people with breast cancer to live longer, healthier lives, and to make it possible for men and women to take a more active role in managing their breast health.
