Grab your high-tops, shorts and jerseys, and head down to the Air Canada Centre during Osgoode Spirit Week Nov. 12 to 16. You won’t want to miss the Osgoode Owls as they take on the University of Toronto Blues in a charity basketball game where everyone wins.
The inaugural Osgoode – University of Toronto Charity Tip-Off will take place at the Air Canada Centre on Friday, Nov. 16, at 12:30pm. Opposing faculty members will also get to test their dribbling skills as they run afoul during the 3-on-3 Faculty Scrimmage at half time.
Plan to stay on, as later that evening the Toronto Raptors will take over centre court when they try to defeat the Indiana Pacers.
In addition to York and U of T shooting hoops to see who will take home the Dean’s Cup, they are also competing to see which school can raise the most cash – with the biggest winner being the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Lawyers Feed the Hungry program. The program will be the recipient of all funds raised by the game.
Osgoode’s student-run Legal & Literary Society has arranged for the basketball court from 12:30pm to 2pm in exchange for purchasing a block of tickets for that evening’s Raptors’ game.
Tickets for the Raptors’ game, including the Charity Tip-Off, range from $35 for balcony corners, $45 for regular balcony to $65 for balcony primes. Tickets are $5 to catch just the Charity Tip-Off. Tickets can be purchased at the Legal and Literary Society office next to Osgoode’s cafeteria in the Law School.
The Charity Tip-Off is just one of the events Osgoode’s Legal & Literary Society has planned for Osgoode Spirit Week to help raise funds for the Lawyers Feed the Hungry program.
The first-ever Pie Ur Prof event, in which students can toss a pie at a professor’s face, will happen on Nov. 12. The Osgoode Ten Pin Challenge will take place on Nov. 13. And, get your vocal chords tuned up for the Osgoode Idol Pub on Nov. 15.
