Schulich again ranked number one in Canada

The survey results are in. The MBA program at York's Schulich School of Business has been ranked number one in Canada in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The survey, conducted by Corporate Knights magazine and released yesterday, assessed how well Canadian business schools are integrating corporate social responsibility issues into the curriculum. The results were published in the magazine's "Best 50 Corporate Citizens" issue.

The 2008 ranking marks the fifth consecutive time that Schulich's MBA program has been ranked number one in Canada. Corporate Knights magazine surveyed 38 business schools across the country and looked at three main areas of business school activity: institutional support such as endowed chairs, scholarships and faculty research; student-led initiatives; and course work. The Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary ranked second, while the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia placed third.

"Congratulations to our faculty, students and staff for today's outstanding result. It is a strong reflection of the quality work that our school is doing in this area," said Schulich Dean Dezsö Horváth.

Schulich was ranked third in the world, just behind Stanford and Michigan, and first in Canada in a similar CSR-related ranking conducted last year by the Aspen Institute, a US-based think tank.

Founded in 2002, Corporate Knights Inc. is an independent Canadian-based media company whose magazine focuses on corporate responsibility. Other surveys published by the company include the annual Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada and the annual Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, announced each year at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
