Jasna Jovicevic Pusztai, a sax player and composer who just completed her master’s degree in music composition at York, launches her first CD, Invented Reality, Aug. 25 at Trane Studio in downtown Toronto.
As the title suggests, the CD is a play on what’s real and what is not. It’s a theme Jovicevic Pusztai has been struggling with since she left the former Yugoslavia some 16 years ago during the Yugoslav wars. (See YFile, July 25.)

For a sampling of her sound, listen to a song or two on her MySpace page.
The CD launch takes place at the Trane Studio, 647 Bathurst St., north of Bloor Street, from 9pm to 11pm. Some of Toronto’s eminent jazz players, including Robi Botos, Rich Brown, Mike Downes and Anthony Michelli, will perform.
