Labour board sets next Monday and Tuesday for CUPE voting

The Ontario Labour Relations Board has set Monday, Jan. 19, and Tuesday, Jan. 20, as the dates for voting on York University’s offers of settlement in the current strike by Local 3903 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

York employees represented by Units 1, 2 and 3 of CUPE 3903 can cast secret ballots in the second-floor ballroom of the Hotel Novotel, 3 Park Home Ave. in North York, Toronto, from 9am to 1pm and 3 to 7pm on the two days.

The hotel is located beside the North York Centre subway station on the Yonge-University-Spadina line. As the station is not accessible, York University will provide an accessible shuttle service to the hotel from the neighbouring stations of Sheppard-Yonge and Finch, which are accessible, continously through the voting hours.

In its official notice issued yesterday, the board says voters will be asked the following question: Are you in favour of acceptance of the offer last received by your trade union from your employer?

Ballots will be counted immediately after the closing of the poll, the board says.

The settlement offers can be seen here or at the Negotiations Update page.
