Submissions welcome for commemorative book

Do you have a fond memory of Atkinson? Wish to share your thoughts on its history or people? The Atkinson Heritage Committee is looking for contributions from former and current Atkinson staff, faculty and students.

To commemorate the Atkinson Faculty of Liberal & Professional Studies’ rich, unique contribution to York University’s first 50 years, the committee will be profiling its vibrant history in a collection of images and stories. Sponsored by York’s U50 Office and the Atkinson Dean’s Office, the book will showcase Atkinson’s contributions to the University and beyond. Vignettes, anecdotes, poems, photographs and short personal reminiscences are all welcome contributions to the book.

On July 1, York University will launch the new Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS), combining the strengths of the Atkinson Faculty of Liberal & Professional Studies and the Faculty of Arts. As the two Faculties move forward with planning and preparation, much reflection is being done on their respective histories.

If you are interested in becoming involved in the development of this unique legacy book, have a submission or have a recommendation of a notable person or landmark event to include – or know of sources (books, memories etc.) to consult – the committee invites you to contact them at aklegacy@yorku.ca.

Submissions are currently under review – but additional input is still welcome.
